Materials Matter

Materials are the part of a home you touch. The floor under bare feet in the morning. The counter you wipe down after dinner. The tap you turn a dozen times a day. Specifications list them in a line each, but you live with them for decades, and the difference between a material chosen for a brochure and one chosen for daily use shows up within the first monsoon.

“A finish becomes something you clean, touch and live with.”

We start with how each surface will be used. The living room at Meadows is floored in marble: cool underfoot in the heat, easy to keep clean, and it takes daylight well, which matters in a room that opens towards the fields. The kitchen counter is granite, because granite shrugs off heat, knives and turmeric in a way softer stones do not. In the bathrooms, the fittings are Jaquar and the showers have glass partitions, so water stays where it should and the room dries quickly in humid months. None of these are exotic choices. They are the ones that still look right after years of ordinary use in Goa.

“Be Awesome Today!”

Materials also set the tone of a home without saying anything. Stone, wood and plain white walls make a room feel settled. They age rather than date. And because they are honest about what they are, they do not need constant replacing to stay presentable. That is our test for every finish: will it still feel good to live with in ten years, and will it have asked little of you in the meantime. To see the materials rather than read about them, arrange a visit to Meadows and we will confirm a time with you.
